Mission (Going Forward) The successful continuance of the Northern New York Art Trail serves to:
Educate the public about regional arts and artists
Attract tourists to the tri-county area of Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties
Generate growth of creative sector through local artists, enabling them to live and work here which in turn enriches our community
Celebrate positive local identity of NNY through the arts
Network with the "buy local" movement, keeping dollars in the tri-county area
A. Year Round, Self Guided Art Trail Directory The Northern New York (NNY) Art Trail, will continue as a resource by which residents and tourists will be able to connect with the local creative arts sector. In turn, the local creative sector will have improved access to their audience, customers who help to keep dollars local. An estimated 50+ artisans in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties will be represented by an artist directory, map and website showing the location, skill and product of each artisan in the Northern New York Area.
Year round, visitors to the “Art Trail” will have the opportunity to meet and talk to artists, to view process and product up close, and to learn about the unique identity of the area, as represented by the artists who call it home.
Additionally the directory and web site will include a calendar of all relevant artist studio tour events in the tricounty area.
Marketing materials include a directory with map, a sample photo of each artist’s work, and a calendar of studio tour events. Directories will be distributed throughout the region to hotels and other public spaces. The NNY Art Trail website will include the NNY Art Trail map, links to artist’s websites, and the calendar of local artist studio tour events.
